Consumer Reaction to the 2004 Australian Federal Budget

Do consumers feel they will be better off a a result of the 2004 budget and how does this compare with their feelings after the 2003 budget?

Apart from the personal impact, do consumers feel that the budget is going in the right direction and how does this compare with their feelings after the 2003 budget?

How has the budget affected consumer willingness and ability to spend and save?

Has the budget increased the attractiveness of superannuation relative to other investment options?

These questions are answered in our report, including demographic breakdown of the responses.  Our survey of consumer opinion was conducted over the days following the bringing down of the budget on 11 May (nationally representative telephone survey of 400 respondents).  The results are compared with the same questions asked immediately after the 2003 budget.

The report costs $50 (includes GST).
