foreseechange's Charlie Nelson has been the most accurate forecaster of new vehicle sales since 1997. In January 1998, the industry was staggered by his forecast that sales would top 800,000 after setting the record of 722,000 in 1997 (BRW January 26 1998). The final sales figure for 1998 was 808,000.
Again, in late 2001, he was the only forecaster to predict that sales would top 800,000 in 2002 - other forecasts were in the range 732,000 to 785,000 (BRW December 13 -19 2001). The 2002 total was 824,000.
