The long term forecasts are updated annually and are broken down by broad age group of mother. This breakdown is important for marketing sttrategy because birth rates are falling in younger age groups and rising in older age groups. Forecasting by segment also improves the accuracy of the forecast of total births. The forecasting horizon is ten years with annual totals. This model is updated annually.
The short term forecasts are by quarter and have a six quarter horizon. Our model is based on a leading indicator and adapts to changing trends. Forecasts are updated quarterly.
